The Law That Sets You Free

Image
Romans 8:2 — “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” There are two laws at work in this world—and in your walk. The first is the law of sin and death . It’s the spiritual gravity we were all born under. You don’t have to rebel or shake a fist at God to be under it—just stay as you are. Be yourself. Live by your own understanding. Even your best attempts to be good, to be kind, to be religious—if done in the flesh—are still tangled in a law that leads only to death. It’s what Paul called “another law in my members... bringing me into captivity” (Romans 7:23). But there's another law. A higher one. A liberating one. It’s the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus . This law doesn’t rest on your strength, performance, or discipline. It flows from the life of Christ in you. The Holy Spirit empowers it, the Word of God reveals it, and faith activates it. It begins the moment you believe, but it grows stronger as you renew y...

Delivered for our offences

Image
V.25 highlights 2-crucial factors for our salvation: The death of Christ, which atones for our sins. The resurrection of Christ, guaranteeing our own resurrection and eternal life with God. The crucifixion of Jesus as atonement for our sins holds a central position in God's plan of salvation. Without His death, we cannot receive justification or the imputation of God's righteousness to us. "Delivered up" signifies being handed over; God intentionally surrendered Jesus to die for our sins. This act was God's judicial response to our wrongdoings. Jesus bore the death penalty for our sins. It was not the Jews or the Romans who ultimately handed Jesus over for crucifixion—God was the one who did it, a decision made from eternity (Rev.13:8). Jesus' death was part of God's predetermined plan to deliver us from our guilt and offences, Isa.53:10; Rom.8:32; Act.2:22-23. Just as a judge orders the execution of a convicted murderer, so the Father ordered the execu...

Contrasting Administrations

Image
The two administrations are vastly different. In Adam's, sin, condemnation, and death reigns. In Christ's, justification, grace, and life reigns. When we are transferred into Christ’s administration, our spiritual position with God is utterly changed. We might still be in the flesh, but our spiritual standing with God is one of grace, peace, and atonement, because of Christ’s cross work, and His righteousness imputed to us. This new standing with God is grounded upon our spiritual identity in Christ and is not dependent on our current state in the flesh. Consequently, even though we still live in the flesh, it explains why Paul can confidently write that we are declared to be dead to sin, meaning that the effects and penalty of sin, is not sentenced to us. In addition, Paul can declare that we are dead to the law because of the death of Christ, allowing us to be joined, by His resurrection, to a new ‘contract’ of justification, grace, and life, Rom 7:4-6.   No. God will NOT enjoy it! It is not His will that any perish, 2Pet 3:9. He did EVERYTHING He could to prevent their destruction. But God’s wrath is righteous and perfectly just, and, at the appointed time, He will NOT hesitate in judgement to send the Christ rejecting people to the eternal flames. Why would God resurrect people just to put them to death again? Here's 3 points that the Bible makes perfectly clear: Human death is not the eternal death. These two are very different types of death.  The guilty must face judgement for their sins, their guilt and ungodliness. ALL must bow the knee to Christ, confessing His Lordship. Isa.45:23; Rom.14:1; Phil.2:10-11 The guilty will be cast into the eternal flames, because of their own choice, rejecting what God had made known to them all through their life. Though it might shock some, there is no injustice here. God's actions are perfectly just, righteous, and honourable according to His Word. ______________ Join my WhatsApp chan...
