The BIG Picture (Shorts)

Elias carried water each morning in a clay jar, cracked from years of use. He often felt embarrassed by its flaws, wishing he had a stronger vessel. Yet as he walked the dusty path, water dripped steadily from the crack. One day, a neighbour pointed out the flowers lining Elias’s route — bright blossoms that had sprung up where the water fell. What Elias saw as waste had become life for others. His broken jar had quietly nourished the ground, leaving beauty behind. That evening, Elias remembered Paul’s words: “We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” He realized the jar was a picture of himself. We often wait until we feel qualified before we serve, but a vessel is simply a container; its value is found in what it holds. Offering yourself as you are means coming empty—handing over your doubts and flaws so God can fill you with His substance. When we are emptied of self-reliance, we are filled with the faith of the Son of God (Gal.2:20). This divine exchange ensures that the impact of our service comes from the absolute sufficiency of the message we carry, rather than our own shaky confidence.
