Many incorrectly teach that Gentiles being grafted into the tree converts them into "spiritual Israel" or places them under Israel's covenants . However, Paul's dispensational framework is precise . Israel is not the vine or root; national Israel represents the natural branches . The root and source of spiritual life is Christ Himself . When national Israel stumbled in unbelief, their natural branches were broken off from the place of spiritual privilege .
