1 Corinthians 1: Everything Is Grace
Why do we feel the need to prove ourselves when everything we have was given?
📖 Key Verse (KJV):
“That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (1Cor.1:31)
📚 Today’s Lesson:
Paul writes to a church divided by pride and rivalry. Some ranked themselves above others. Paul reminds them that God chose what the world overlooks, so that no one may boast in His presence. Everything we have in Christ is a gift: our wisdom, our righteousness, our holiness and our redemption. Nothing is earned, so nothing can be bragged about. Christian character is marked by the humility that says, everything I have is grace. This guards the heart against arrogance, comparison and the hunger for status. Where grace is remembered, rivalry loses its ground, and the glory goes to the Lord.
📌 Reflection:
When I compare myself with others, have I forgotten that everything I have is a gift from God?
🌟 Practical Takeaway:
Humility is not thinking less of yourself. It is remembering who gave you everything. You are free from the need to compete or impress. All of it is grace. Today, when you feel the urge to boast or measure yourself against someone, quietly thank God for that very thing. Then sincerely celebrate another person’s success, and give the Lord the glory.
