(Rom.12:17) Today's Lesson The final section of Romans 12 addresses how the believer responds to personal injury, conflict, and opposition. Naturally, the human heart seeks retaliation when wronged; however, grace establishes an entirely different principle. We are instructed to recompense no man evil for evil, but rather to conduct ourselves with integrity and honesty before all men. As far as it depends upon us, we are called to live peaceably with everyone, maintaining a testimony that reflects the character of God. Crucially, refusing to retaliate is not an act of weak compromise or passive endurance forced by self-effort. It is an act of deep trust in God’s righteous authority.
