Justified by Grace, Blood, and Faith: The Complete Gospel Work

When standing before a holy God, eternal standing rests entirely on a complete work. Scripture lays out the foundation of salvation with crystal clarity, dividing it into three distinct elements that secure peace with the Father.

The foundation begins with God's part, which is grace. Before anyone could reach toward heaven, God initiated the plan of redemption. "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:" (Rom.3:24). This unmerited favor is the original source of salvation, extended to guilty sinners without cost or cause on their end.

The payment comes through Christ's part, which is His blood. Divine justice demanded a perfect sacrifice, and Jesus fulfilled that demand entirely on the cross. "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Rom.5:9). Through this ultimate sacrifice, propitiation was fully made, satisfying the righteousness of God once for all.

Both of these steps are finished facts of history. God provided the grace, and Christ shed the blood. The provision is completely ready.

All that remains is your part, which is faith. "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" (Rom.5:1). When a person responds to the grace gospel, trust is placed in what Christ has already accomplished. In that moment of belief, the third part is achieved, and the full application of justification is confirmed in the believer's life.

Anything added to these three—whether human works, personal merit, or religious rituals—is a perversion of God's righteousness. Attempting to add to a finished payment diminishes the glory of the cross. Rest securely in the plain truth of Scripture: grace designed it, the blood bought it, and faith receives it.

Chosen before the foundation of the world

God’s entire redemption plan was determined long before the world was made. God knows the end from the beginning as we read in Isaiah 46:10. However, it is interesting how we can distinguish our grace doctrine from other dispensations based on what was prophesied versus what was kept secret. God revealed relevant parts of the plan systematically and slowly through dispensations. The majority of the plan to restore the earth was revealed through the prophets and unto Israel. Israel will be used to bring earth back in subjection under Christ in the Millennial Kingdom. That in me FIRST

1 Tim.1:15-16 ... that in me first ... The key word here is 'FIRST'. First in what? —Salvation of course! But how could this be since God had shown mercy to save many others before Paul? Paul was certainly not the first person to ever be saved! No, but we must understand that Paul's conversion started a brand new 'mystery' program, the program of grace, and he was the first to be saved into this new program. Paul is the first member immersed into the Body of Christ. He was divinely selected by the risen Christ to become the apostle to the Gentiles (Acts 9:15; Gal.1:1). Christ would reveal to him the secrets of this new dispensation (Eph.3:1-5) and provide him the gospel of grace (Gal.1:11-12).
