The Gospel of Grace: A Walk Through Romans
Section 3: The Results of Justification (Romans 5)
Peace and Standing in Grace
Scripture Focus:
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" (Rom.5:1)
Today's Lesson
Romans 5 establishes the eternal security and present benefits that flow directly from being justified by faith. First, justification grants complete peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. This peace is not a temporary emotional feeling, but a permanent legal standing (read that again!!) where all enmity between God and the believer is abolished. Through Christ, we have present access into this grace wherein we stand, enabling us to rejoice even in tribulations. Paul emphasises that divine love operates on an entirely different plane from human affection. Men rarely lay down their lives for a righteous person, yet God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners (while we were unrighteous!!), Christ died for us. (Friends, these are statements we have to absorb!)
Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Paul continues also to contrast the headship of Adam with the headship of Jesus Christ. By one man's offence, condemnation and death passed upon all humanity. However, the free gift of grace is not like the offence. Through the obedience of Christ, the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life. Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound, securing eternal life for every person who believes in Christ under the present dispensation. (Praise God!!)
⚙️ The Grace Key
Reconciliation and peace with God are permanently secured through the blood of Christ and the superabundance of grace, independent of human works.
